Why You Need to Slow Down Before the New Year

I’m ambitious. Yes, I said it. Not to toot my own horn or anything, but I am. Self realization is good because improvement and progression always starts internally.

”Fear of missing out”

Sometimes, I think that my ambition can be credited to FOMO. Ever heard of it? Just in case you haven’t, it’s the “fear of missing out”. My FOMO isn’t the jealous or envious FOMO. It’s the fear that I’m missing out on my personal success. Sometimes I push myself to the limit simply because I don’t want to miss my opportunity.

Is there such a thing as being too ambitious? Well...I felt like I was going, going, going, to the point of almost being gone. My ambition to get everything done (immediately) was getting the best of me.

Then I had an "ah ha moment" that caused me to slow down. I realized that what was meant for me will never miss me and what misses me was never meant for me.

It brought me to a halt. I took the time to slow down and shift things in my business and my family. After being more focused I began exceeding most of the goals that I’ve set for the year.

Here’s three reasons why you should slow down too:

It’s almost like being on a roller coaster. When you're moving really fast life becomes blurry. When you slow down you’re able to narrow your focus and see the details around you.

Slowing down helps you to eliminate the noise and hone in on your goals.

Sometimes there’s so much going through your head it becomes overwhelming and you’re not sure where to begin or if you’re already in the thick of it, you’re not sure how to continue. When I'm working at a steady pace I can refer to my personal action plan

Slow down. . . then you can get focused.

Now that you’ve gotten off the roller coaster you can look at the details of your life before the new year.

No need to follow the trend or the lofty expectations of others. Do a self evaluation before 2018 to determine if you’re on the right track. Are you doing the things that bring you joy? If not, take stock of your life, GET CLEAR and live with purpose.

When you begin focusing on your goals and clarified your purpose for fulfilling them your passion is amplified.

Passion with purpose is what brings you success.

If you’re moving at full speed, you can easily miss success and the beauty around you.

Before you get ready to toss 2017 aside, be sure to take some time to slow down and end it on a high note. I used these 10 practical ways to finish my year strong.

Passion alone is never enough.
Passion with purpose is what brings you success.

Enjoy the little things. Live with intention, get focused and clear on your purpose —that’s where you’ll find success and you'll see beauty in the details.

Before you toss 2017 aside, you can still work on ending it on a high note.
